To ensure you get the absolute best water pressure and avoid any risk of cross-contamination with unfiltered water, we strongly recommend pairing this system with a Doulton 3-Way Mixer Tap or a dedicated Doulton Pillar Tap (sold separately).
Most generic third-party filter taps utilize a narrow 1/4″ inlet pipe, which restricts flow and starves the Doulton system. Doulton taps are specifically engineered with a wider 3/8″ connection to maintain the optimal 1.9L/min flow rate dictated by the dense, highly protective ceramic core.
Quick Water Pressure Home Check:
Before ordering, you can check if your kitchen mains pressure is sufficient using a measuring jug and a timer. Turn your cold tap on fully:
Under 6 seconds to fill 1 Litre: You have very high pressure. The system will run perfectly, but you may want to install a pressure-limiting valve to protect the unit.
7 to 12 seconds to fill 1 Litre: You have ideal medium-to-low pressure. The system will run perfectly.
Over 12 seconds to fill 1 Litre: Your pressure is below 30 psi. We advise consulting a plumber before installing an underbench system (or consider exploring our gravity-fed British Berkefeld range, which requires no plumbing or water pressure at all).
